Merrill Alley
Designer
Merrill Alley is an Austin-based interior designer who helps people create places of significance that reflect the individuals that inhabit them. Whether shaping spaces to work, live, entertain, or provide a refuge from the world, her aim is to create spaces that set the stage for life to take place.
Upon graduating from the University of Kansas School of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning, Merrill moved to Austin to throw herself headlong into the City's lively design community. Joining with Urbanspace Interiors, Merrill has joyfully developed a growing list of residential and commercial clients that she feels privileged to work with.
Between Merrill's busy professional life and her volunteer work for the American Institute of Architects' Home Tour Selection Committee, she manages to find peace of mind and artistic expression in her jewelry design.
Merrill is a proud resident of the Travis Heights neighborhood in Austin.

It's the age-old question: Does fashion inspire interiors or do interiors inspire fashion? We think inspiration runs both ways, and we especially love to see that inspiration captured on the street.
Molteni & C really blew our socks off this year with their new collections. There are pieces that are very unexpected and bold, and we think they really add a richness and eclectic feel to the classically modern Italian line.
Take a look here at their new jewels, along with some old favorites, and the fashion on the streets that hits the same aesthetic chord.

Green, glorious green. This season has embraced the full spectrum of this fantastic hue from olive to chartreuse, green is on the rise.
Clearly color is an essential element of design, but the trending of colors and the forecasting of future color fads is a fascinating study of human psychology. Color trends are influenced by everything from current events to celebrity fashion. This season has been all about bold colors and timeless neutrals.
Continuing my search for the common ground between furniture and fashion, this month I focused on pieces by Moroso to find inspiration.
In all areas of design we see cross-influence. Art inspires fashion, fashion inspires interiors, interiors inspire graphics...inspiration flows freely through all faces of art and design.
