lifestyles.

The goal for this project was to give the client clean, modern design with an all-white perimeter in the walls, drapery and storage cabinets, combined with neutral large furnishings and vivid pops of color in the rugs, accent pieces, art and accessories. The dining room is open to the living room, and we wanted the two spaces to have an individual personality yet flow together in a cohesive way. The living room is very long and narrow, so finding the right sofa was of utmost importance. We decided to create two distinct entertaining areas using the Molteni & C Freestyle Sectional in a beautiful charcoal with great texture, providing the perfect backdrop to all of the colorful pillows from Maharam, Knoll Textiles and Missoni Home. In one area we used a pair of Moroso Bloomy Chairs to create an intimate seating area, and in the other area we included the owner’s existing orange chair for a pop of color. Instead of tables, we used Molteni & C ottomans for maximum flexibility and added seating when necessary. The wall features a customized built-in cabinet that holds the stereo equipment and a turntable, along with 2 illuminated benches from Molteni & C that provide great soft indirect light. The geometric shape of the wall unit is counterbalanced by the incredible piece of artwork by Austin artist Erin Curtis. Finally, the layering of three Golran Carpet Reloaded rugs create the perfect platform for the furniture, along with reinforcing the modern eclectic feel of the room.

The dining room has simple white cabinets with glass tops to dress them up a bit, particularly beautiful against the luminescent tone-on-tone wallpaper from Flavor Paper in Huton Marshmallow we used on the main wall. We continued using the white for the Moooi Paper chandelier and the leather of the Molteni & C Who chairs. The Molteni & C Where Extending Table and tones in the Golran Carpet Reloaded Patchwork rug added warmth against the soothing whites. Then we added pops of color in the artwork from local artists Erin Curtis and Kevin Greer, as well as some colored glass pieces. The table even has a few pops of color, thanks to the gorgeous Prova Prima tableware from Ginori.

The master bedroom was kept light, open and airy to maximize the wonderful size of it, but we still wanted to have those pops of cheerful color like in the rest of the home. The palette was created from the Golran Carpet Reloaded Rugs, which the homeowner fell in love with. The red patchwork is very strong, so we counterbalanced it with grey for the Molteni & C Glove Bed, and cream for most of the Missoni Home Bedding, although the coverlet and shams have embroidered threads of teal, purple, brown and grey. We matched the teal rug perfectly with the 3 euro pillows, and connected back to the red, teal and purple with the small accent pillow. The red Moroso Fjord Chair and painting by Kevin Greer tie everything together. And because we think all rooms need a small pop of black, the Artemide Tizio lamp paired with the De La Espada Mushroom Side Table balance perfectly with the De La Espada Tulip Lamp in black and gold…the perfect touch of a little glam.
