Furniture + Interior Design for Urban Lifestyles
A rapidly growing, Austin-based development firm discovered the perfect location for its new headquarters - located in the heart of downtown, with 20’ ceilings, a full perimeter of windows, and a handsome mix of finishes. The space, however, was an open-concept layout which needed to be modified to better suit the companies needs. The goal was to create purposeful spaces using boundaries both fixed and mobile that retained the property’s open nature, beautiful natural light, and connection to the outside.
Along the interior perimeter, where private offices and meeting rooms were added, a wall of glass separates the private work spaces from the central workspace creating privacy while still allowing sunlight to permeate throughout. Determining a location for a generous, prominent boardroom presented another challenge because the ideal locations would potentially block the space’s best asset - its windows. So instead of building a solid partition to enclose this space, the team used a retractable glass wall allowing for ultimate flexibility and a maintained connection to the outdoors.
Throughout this project, employee wellness was always at the center of the decision-making process. It was this consideration that informed everything from the creation of a living room-like environment with an eclectic mix of furniture and textiles in the primary collaboration space to the 20’ high green wall that brings the outside in and lends to the feeling of tranquility in the space.
