Born and raised in Portland Oregon, a city known for its contemporary metropolitan architecture, Payam Sarabi quickly developed a taste for clean lines and minimal design. Moving to Austin in 2004, he headed up a condo development in the Hyde Park neighborhood, surrounding himself with good design yet again. It was finally in 2007 he turned his focus to his true passion, design, starting Sarabi Studio. His work in the construction field gave him an appreciation for the beauty of raw materials coming to form. At first working with simple tools and a small welder he designed several minimal pieces that today are the foundation of the studio's philosophy. With a focus on locally and responsibly sourced material, Sarabi Studio has grown over the past few years to include a wide range of products all hand-crafted in his East Austin studio.
