Clay Barker

Director of Merchandising

Art inspires good design and good design reads like art. To have exceptional competence for both crafts creates a distinctive and enduring aesthetic. A classically trained vocal performer and student of architectural interior design, Clay Barker brings a bold, energetic, and statement-focused eye to the Urbanspace Interiors team.

Having served most recently as an independent Interior Designer and consultant to a number of luxury industries in Houston, Barker’s professional purview includes over 10 years of high-end retail experience, showroom management, luxury furniture sales, vendor relations, and showroom planning.

Throughout the past decade, Barker has developed a passion for uncovering the history behind the clients he works with and the numerous lines he represents. Just as each client has their own unique and layered story to share, so do the well-crafted pieces selected to fill their space. With this, Clay strives to enable the intimacy of truly knowing the objects that fill each client’s residence or commercial endeavor.

Having secured a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Interior Design at the University of Texas, Clay is savoring the experience of becoming reacquainted with his former home of Austin, Texas. In his leisure time, he enjoys researching new products, “power-browsing” the design world to discover the next biggest trends, and bringing down the house at Ego’s on Congress.

Clay is proud resident of east Austin.
