Green, glorious green. This season has embraced the full spectrum of this fantastic hue from olive to chartreuse, green is on the rise. Check out this dynamic variety of pieces showcasing Mother Nature's favorite color in materials hard and soft, smooth and textural and everything in between...
Color Study: Wonderful Whites
Clearly color is an essential element of design, but the trending of colors and the forecasting of future color fads is a fascinating study of human psychology. Color trends are influenced by everything from current events to celebrity fashion. This season has been all about bold colors and timeless neutrals. For this first "Color Study" I focused on simple, classic, wonderful whites.
Furniture + Fashion Mash-Up: Moroso on the Street
Continuing my search for the common ground between furniture and fashion, this month I focused on pieces by Moroso to find inspiration. Moroso is, in a word, imaginative. This Italian company has been providing the world with luxury furniture since its inception in 1952. Since that time it has contributed countless trend-setting pieces to the design community at large, influencing both fashion and furniture design.
From Inspiration to Reality: the Urbanspace Kitchen
The whole team at Urbanspace is beyond thrilled right now. The showroom has gone through a big transition, having just completed the construction of our brand-new custom kitchen. We took one corner of the showroom and turned it into a masterpiece of form and function - perfect for any modern chef. Our team created the concept, layout and design details, and then worked with international and local resources to make it truly unique.
Furniture + Fashion Mash-Up: Kartell on the Street
In all areas of design we see cross-influence. Art inspires fashion, fashion inspires interiors, interiors inspire graphics...inspiration flows freely through all faces of art and design.Take a look here at some of the new pieces and old favorites from Kartell, and their fashion connection.
From Inspiration to Reality: Tacchini in Our Showroom
We treat our showroom just like we would treat a client. Once we decide that we need a particular piece for the showroom floor, we then start becoming inspired for a whole design concept, asking ourselves questions like:
What else will we put with this to create a full "room"?
What else will we put with this to create a full "room"?
What is the color/texture/pattern scheme?
What accessories will we add to give it personality?
Furniture + Fashion Mash-Up: Molteni & C on the Street
It's the age-old question: Does fashion inspire interiors or do interiors inspire fashion? We think inspiration runs both ways, and we especially love to see that inspiration captured on the street.
Molteni & C really blew our socks off this year with their new collections. There are pieces that are very unexpected and bold, and we think they really add a richness and eclectic feel to the classically modern Italian line.
Take a look here at their new jewels, along with some old favorites, and the fashion on the streets that hits the same aesthetic chord.

Up On High
One thing we noticed coming out of the Salone Del Mobile (the world's largest design fair, in Milan every April) and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair
(in New York every May) was all our favorite lines releasing a barstool
version of some of their top chairs. We have customers coming into the
showroom all the time asking us for barstools, so we couldn't be more
pleased to have a broader offering.
