So dedicated is Kartell, an Italian company in business for over 60 years, to pushing the limits of design and technology, they've been known to engineer machines just so they can turn a design into a reality, as with Philippe Starck's Mr. Impossible Chair. They were the first design company to successfully come up with products made of injection-molded polycarbonate, like that of Starck's now infamous Louis Ghost Armchair: one solid piece of clear, recyclable, indestructible design that you can literally bend at weird angles, if you wanted to. We were invited to a private dinner in the Kartell Museum in Milan while at Salone del Mobile one year, and we were able to really see how this industrial goods company turned incredible design company uses technology, engineering and futuristic materials to create a line of products priced perfectly for allowing you to step out of your comfort zone and invest in a colorful and adventurous home.
